What the pet addendum usually asks for
- Proof of current rabies vaccination, sometimes all core vaccinations.
- Breed, weight and age, because many buildings set limits on each.
- A photo of the pet, and sometimes the microchip number.
- Spay or neuter status, and occasionally a vet reference.
Send one link instead of five attachments
A PawPass share link shows the pet’s name, species, breed and birth date at the top, followed by the vaccination and other records with their dates and notes. If the building wants the signed certificate itself, send that as an attachment alongside. Send the link with the application; set it to expire once the lease is signed.
Moving between states
Rabies rules are set by states and sometimes by counties, and your new one may want a certificate or a license within a set number of days. The rabies rules by state guide is the place to start; your new county’s animal control has the final word.
Keep the license with the record
Most places that license pets want the rabies certificate to issue the license. Attach the license to the record as well, so the next landlord gets both on one page.
Common questions
- Can the landlord edit or download my pet’s record?
- No. A share is a read-only page. They can view it until it expires or you revoke it.
