FAQ

Pet vaccination records:
common questions.

No jargon. No fine-print theatre.

Is my pet's data safe?
Every request is checked against the pet it is trying to reach before anything is read or written, so a record is only ever reachable by its owner and the household they invited. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and database keys are never exposed to the browser.
What does it cost?
Free covers one pet, forever. Plus is $4.99/mo, or $3.74/mo billed yearly, and covers unlimited pets, unlimited shares, multi-owner households, and the AI Health Assistant. Pro adds AI Health chat, telehealth consults and bulk import for $19.99/mo, or $14.99/mo billed yearly. The plan comparison lists every feature by tier.
Do groomers and boarders need an account?
No. You generate a QR code; they scan it; they see a clean read-only view scoped to exactly what you shared. No app install, no sign-up friction.
I've lost my pet's vaccination records. Can you get them back?
Not directly — no app can produce records it never held. Your vet can almost always reprint them, and if the practice has closed, the records are usually transferred to another clinic nearby. Rabies is often registered with your county or state, and a shelter or pet insurer may hold a copy too. Once you have them back, keeping a photo in PawPass means the next person who asks gets an answer in seconds.
What do boarding facilities usually ask for?
For dogs, typically a rabies certificate plus DHPP and Bordetella; for cats, rabies and FVRCP. Many places want the shots given a week or two before the stay rather than the day before, and a rabies tag on the collar is generally not accepted as proof on its own. Requirements vary, so check with the facility — then keep the paperwork somewhere you can reach from the parking lot, or share it as a QR code they can scan.
Does it replace my vet's records?
No, and it's not trying to. PawPass is the bridge between clinics. Your vet keeps their records; you keep one consolidated copy with shareable views.
Can I bring existing data in?
You can type records in and attach photos or PDFs to any of them, so the vet card itself travels with the entry. On Pro you can bring a whole history in from a CSV. There is no automatic import from clinic systems yet — when that changes we will say so here rather than imply it.
